Children can easily be sidetracked by the commercial part of Christmas. It is up to us to point them to the real meaning of Christmas -- Jesus. So many of the popular Christmas symbols can help them keep the real meaning of Christmas in their hearts. During this unit the children will learn the spiritual meaning behind these popular Christmas symbols: candy cane, poinsettia, stars, holiday lights, angels, and the carol "Twelve Days of Christmas." As the children discover how all these symbols point to Jesus' birth, they can enjoy Christmas decorations at a new level. Children also learn the importance of telling the Christmas story to others.
