NT 19 JOHN THE BAPTIST, Preparing for the Light
Version 6.00 Children learn of the one who prepares the way for the Light of the World ? John the Baptist. Children follow John?s life from the foretelling in Isaiah?s prophecy, his birth, naming, ministry, to his baptizing Jesus. In the Drama workshop children act out four scenes depicting John?s birth story. In the Cooking Workshop they hear John?s message of sharing and prepare ?Honey and Locust Snack Sticks? from a recipe that includes moist Jordan River Desert Locusts. These are then used for a mission project. In the Science Workshop children use bubble levels and experiment with making the land flat so they can see Jesus. The Bible Variety Workshop has children learning about baptism through a variety of activities. Parents are encouraged to participate in this workshop with the children and celebrate their Baptism Anniversary. (Changes may need to made to this workshop for different denominations). In the Movie Workshop children see the life of one of God?s greatest prophets. They learn that God gave John at birth the important job of pointing people to Jesus and preparing the way. Children learn that they can be pointers like John and prepare the way for Jesus in the lives of others around them.
