San Diego Flora is dedicated to appreciating the natural beauty of Southern California.  We publish two books about San Diego County.  

SAN DIEGO COUNTY NATIVE PLANTS is an acclaimed guide to the natural flora of the county. The 2nd Edition, published in January 2006, provides a thorough overview of the flora from the coast to the desert in a simple format that relies on nearly 3,000 color photographs.

LAND OF SUNLIGHT is both a geographic tour of the county's landscapes and a guide to contemporary representational painting in the region. More than 100 fine artists contributed paintings to the book, demonstrating a wide range of artistic styles and techniques. LAND OF SUNLIGHT was published in August 2007, and should be available in stores county-wide during the second half of the year.

The author, James Lightner, is a native of San Diego.  Mr. Lightner studied biology at university and is an amateur artist.
